In the story, Abraham suggests they listen to Moses and the prophets (v29). Jesus has already spoken about this (v16-17). The rich man thinks it is unlikely that they will listen to Moses and the prophets. If only someone went to them from the dead they would listen (v30).

But Abraham says that not even someone who has been raised from the dead would convince them (31).

Jesus is telling the story to the Pharisees who loved money (v14). If they continue to serve Money instead of God (v13), they will end up like the rich man – in Hades.

What they need to know about money is in the Law of Moses and the Prophets. They should listen to them (v29).

What we need to know about money wealth and serving God is also in the Bible. In fact everything we need to know about serving God is in the Bible. We just need to listen to it and do it.
