Unless we see that God’s workplace is us ourselves.  Then we might be able to see how God was at work in us as we grappled with blessing or struggled with trouble. It is possible that some people are more aware of God being at work in them in the troubles than in the blessings. Or maybe not.

Is God’s work in us crucial to his great purposes? Of course. This is another way of saying that we are crucial in God’s purposes. Not that his purpose would fail if we don’t do our bit. He is not dependent on us. But he has chosen to make us a central part of his great plan.

All of the things that happen to us are under God’s wise oversight. We are under his constant care. He lives in us by his Spirit. He leads us through life in a dynamic, unpredictable way. For his good purposes. It is easy to think that Christian life is all about us. After all if Jesus died to save us ...

A healthier way to see it is to say he saved us to serve him. He set us free to be slaves. So how has God been at work in your life in the last few months or so in furthering his great purposes? It is likely we will not know most of the answer to that question.  But because we are each crucial players in God’s great plan you can be sure that he has been at work for good.
