Part of the question is whether there are sufficient people who are willing to be part of the foundation of each congregation; to pray, invite and welcome. To seek the blessing and growth of the congregation and those who will join it.

It is nearly time to seek the Lord’s mind together.

So this coming week I am calling all of us to pray. To call upon God that he will make clear his purpose to us. I invite those who are available to meet with me this week in the church at different times, on Monday to Saturday mornings, to pray together. I encourage all of us, wherever we are, to pray day by day for this matter. Perhaps you can meet together with one or two others at some time that suits to pray together.

This will be a week of prayer before we take some time in church on Sunday week to consider together what we believe God is leading us to, and to indicate what each of us believes is the way forward: whether to stay with one morning congregation or to launch two.

One question that has been asked a few times in different ways, is “Why would we want to do this?” The simple answer is so that we can make space, and provide opportunity, for more people to be won for Christ and join this church.

Whether starting two congregations is what God wants us to do is the question.

Please pray.
