Hmm, not everyone wants excitement. And anyway some things require persistence and faithfulness, and can see quite dull. On the other hand doing what God wants us to do always has an element of excitement about it, because he is involved in it.

But excitement is not the thing to aim for. God’s kingly rule is the thing. I think the King has got us into a good position to help grow his kingdom in the coming year. Growing his kingdom means expanding the number of people who acknowledge and benefit from his kingship. Adding to the number who love and obey the Lord Jesus.

All of us know people who are definitely not interested. We also know others who are interested in Christ. Are the latter group easier to bring to Christ than the other group? No. It is impossible in either case. But what is impossible to us humans is always possible with God.

There are three keys to bringing people into the kingdom of Jesus: his message (very powerful) spoken by his servants; his Spirit directing his servants; and the prayers of his servants for help in speaking.

Can we keep these three things together and at the top of our agendas this year?
