Although we may sometimes feel that church is useless (especially in bed on a cold morning), mostly those of us who belong think otherwise. Speaking of bed on a cold morning, we think physical exercise is useful, even if we don't do much of it. St Paul compared it to godliness:

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. (1 Timothy 4:8)

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. (1 Timothy 6:6-7)

Godliness and life in the church go together. Being part of God's family and living as his servants is not only useful. It is good. But, like physical exercise, you have to get involved in it. Put yourself into it.

Would the life of the church be more enjoyable, meaningful, purposeful, useful, if we acted differently? For some of us it might. For others of us, we are already having fun in God's family. One thing that can make a difference is praying. What you pray is what you believe.

Right now, Christ the King needs people who pray. I am really encouraged by the people who pray. Praise God that we have praying people in this church. If you have felt it was just a chasing after the wind, please get back to praying. If you are a pray-er, pray on.
